With the Oscars airing this Sunday, Timothée Chalamet is once again dominating the cultural conversation. The actor—nominated this year for his leading performance in Marty Supreme—has built a reputation for appearing in several major films annually, and he shows no signs of slowing down. Between a packed filming schedule, life in the spotlight with his girlfriend Kylie Jenner, and the occasional headline-making controversy (like his recent claim that “no one cares” about ballet or opera!), it’s safe to assume the 30-year-old has very little downtime. Which raises the question: where does Timothée Chalamet actually retreat to after the whirlwind of premieres, press tours, and awards-season buzz?
Unlike many celebrities who accumulate sprawling property portfolios, Chalamet’s real estate footprint remains relatively modest. The New York City native spent his early years in Manhattan Plaza, the West 43rd Street apartment complex just blocks from the Theater District. Built under the Mitchell-Lama program—a state initiative designed to provide affordable housing to middle-income residents—the building earned the nickname “Broadway’s Bedroom,” thanks to the fact that about 70 percent of its 1,689 residents are performing artists. Over the years, the address has counted Alicia Keys, Angela Lansbury, and Tennessee Williams among its notable tenants.
Though Chalamet is an indisputable A-lister, his list of homes remains surprisingly short. Ahead of Sunday’s Academy Awards, we’re taking a look at the two properties the actor has called home since his rise to fame.
A Humble New York City Apartment
Chalamet didn’t stray too far from his childhood home with his first New York City apartment. The humble abode is located on 43rd Street and boasts one bedroom and a bathroom. For only about 1,000 square feet, his rent is estimated to be roughly $4,000 per month. But while not many details are known about the 30-year-old’s first pad, he and his Dune co-star Zendaya made headlines when the actress explained how she helped her pal spruce up his space on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“The vibe was very teenage boy,” the actress told the talk show host. “We just needed a few necessities. You know, cups and plates and knives and forks. Things to clean. We needed some structure. We got everything he needed. All the big boy stuff.”
An Estate in Beverly Hills
In 2022, Chalamet made a move to the West Coast. According to reports, the Academy Award-winning actor purchased model Kate Upton and baseball player Justin Verlander’s home in Beverly Hills for $11 million.
The estate—described as “East Coast traditional”—spans 1.5 acres, with 5,521 square feet of living space. It boasts four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a home theater, beamed and pitched ceilings, an eat-in kitchen, multiple sets of French doors, and a wine cellar. Its living room was built around a statement fireplace, and the outside is ideal for entertaining, complete with an expansive brick patio, a pool, a raised Jacuzzi, and grassy lawns, all encompassed by foliage.
As for personal touches to the space, Chalamet turned his living room into a “museum” of sorts, showcasing his collection of antiques. He set them up along both sides of the walls, sandwiching his television inset, and added low lights to spotlight the various vases and pottery.
