The guest bedroom belongs in a Spanish hacienda.

Taking cues from her years in fashion, designer Christina Rottman elevates a Santa Barbara home with rich accents and couture touches, without ever losing that relaxed sense of California ease.

In the library of a Santa Barbara estate, designer Christina Rottman mixes classical elements — a Ming dynasty–style vellum table, embroidered Greek-key pillows from Holland & Sherry — with a rustic 1950s Spanish iron chair. The walls are covered in a Great Plains fabric.

In front of the mahogany bookcase are vintage brass-topped jars from Kristen Buckingham in Los Angeles and a ceramic vase by Miri Mara Ceramics in nearby Carpinteria.

The elegant dining room "is inspired by all things feminine and strong," Rottman says. "It exists to sparkle and celebrate gatherings of family and friends." The walls are covered in a hand-painted Gracie tea paper. An antique mahogany table is surrounded by custom chairs in a blue Keleen leather and a cream de Le Cuona fabric, both with Janet Yonaty trim.

In the living room, an antique rug from Mansour inspired the jewel-toned palette. The coffee table and club chair are from Jean de Merry.

Taking a cue from yachts, the compact wainscoted powder room packs a big punch with walls clad in a Chivasso fabric. The sink and fixtures are from Waterworks.

The master bedroom layers quiet bedding from Pratesi with a plush Nancy Corzine silk velvet headboard to create a soothing retreat. The side table is by Gregorius Pineo.

In the master bedroom, decorative artist Peter Bolton created a floral bas-relief that climbs up the wall.

The spa-like master bath pulls in the colors of the ocean view. The tiles on tub are from Ann Sacks.

The guest suite boldly mixes black-and-white patterns with terra-cotta and red prints that echo the warmth of the wooden ceiling beams. "It's one of the most luxurious guest bedrooms I have done," the designer notes, "but it still has this slightly provincial Spanish look." The custom four-poster by Gregorius Pineo has bed-curtains in Martyn Lawrence Bullard's Senja fabric.

The dining loggia was envisioned to be "casual by day and dressy by night," Rottman says. The space has curtains and chair cushions in a Perennials outdoor fabric and is illuminated by a Formations chandelier. Read more about her inspiration for this space here.
