Wayfair hardly requires an introduction. Since launching in 2002, the furniture and home decor retailer has become a go-to source for seemingly just about everything for the home—even a “tiny ranch home.” Whether you’re shopping for a major investment piece, like a dresser, or a small finishing touch, like a ceramic pot for your plants, chances are you’ll spot it on Wayfair. Even better, its price points run from budget-friendly to splurge-worthy.
Still, those “affordable” finds can quickly add up. Since our editors are always on the hunt for clever ways to shop smarter, now feels like the right moment to uncover how to save more at Wayfair. To get the real deal, we asked Megan Lawrence, manager of consumer PR at Wayfair, to share her best insider advice for finding those hidden online discounts. Read her money-saving tips below.
Sign Up for the App
Shopping apps often offer discounts on your first purchase and other hidden deals. The same goes for Wayfair's app. "By downloading [it], shoppers can score app-exclusive deals, such as early access to Way Day sales," Lawrence says.
Shop the Sales (Of Course)
According to Lawrence, “Wayfair has sales that follow the major retail holidays [such as] Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day, as well as proprietary marquee moments like Way Day and Cyber Month sales.” You’ll recall that this year’s Way Day deals ran in April, and thousands of pieces were marked down.
Additionally, Wayfair offers Open Box deals, which encompass 30k+ items alone. If you don’t mind buying like-new returned items, this is a smart way to save extra on items like curtains, mirrors, and outdoor chairs—items you may not necessarily mind someone else touching before. Lastly, don’t forget to check out the Surplus Sale section, which is Wayfair’s everyday sale on overstocked products. If you check out all three of these sections and shop the big sales, you’ll never have to pay full price for any Wayfair item ever again!
Visit Wayfair's Special Pages
Aside from the retailer's highly public sales, Wayfair’s daily sales page is worth browsing through, whether you know what you want or not. The markdowns touch on every area of the home, from your outdoor space to your bedroom and kitchen and dining rooms. If you scroll even further down this page, you’ll notice “Deals of the Day,” with new items added every 24 hours.
Take Advantage of Wayfair’s Free Services
Everyone knows you can buy all the furniture and decor your heart desires on Wayfair. What you may not know is that the e-commerce giant also offers expert design services and home improvement advice. You can phone, chat, or email customer service to find out the specifics for your home and products, but know that shoppers have access to designers for one-on-one conversations. The design services include "selecting fabric swatches, working with specific floor plans, and even pulling together product recommendations for a personalized mood board."
Sign Up for the Wayfair Credit Card
First off, there’s no annual fee associated with this credit card, which is nice because you can take advantage of the perks without spending more of your own money. When you sign up for a credit card, you get $40 off your qualifying first order of $100+. A perk associated with this card includes a seven percent back in rewards on qualifying items at Wayfair. The other card option, the Wayfair Mastercard, offers all these same perks plus three percent at grocery stores, two percent on online purchases, and one percent everywhere else.
