Joe Lucas goes the distance for an ocean-side getaway just 15 minutes from his clients’ main home, creating a fuss-free escape for surfing, family togetherness, and chilling by the beach.

Lucas chose bleached-white oak cabinetry for this Hermosa Beach, California, home. “It feels more modern,” he says, “beachy without being too theme-y.” Pendants, the Urban Electric Co. The rope-wrapped counter stools are from Lucas’s Los Angeles shop, Harbinger.
