Two decades and three decorators later, a Hamptons summer cottage tells the story of Lisa McFadden's ever-changing style, from tasteful French touches to fearless color.
Lisa McFadden's home in Southampton, New York, which was decorated two decades ago by Justine Cushing, is stylishly timeless. A Korean tiger scroll greets visitors in the entry.
The living room sofa is upholstered in a Manuel Canovas linen, and the table skirt and throw pillows are in Samarkand from Brunschwig & Fils.
A hunter-green Brunschwig & Fils wallcovering gives the dining room an intimate feel.
The library goes bold with walls in high-gloss Purple Lotus and a ceiling in Metallic Glaze in Silver, both from Benjamin Moore. The sofa is upholstered in Palimuro velvet by Etro, and Alan Campbell's Meloire Reverse covers armchairs from John Salibello.
In an upstairs bedroom, two lively fabric patterns from Designers Guild call on a similar palette in different scales. The tulip print, Mei P'ing, graces the twin beds and Roman shade, while a geometric fabric covers the benches.
The same decorating strategy works in the sunroom, where the sofa, pillows and chair cushions are in coordinating Pierre Frey prints. The trio of red-lacquered cubes is by Jonathan Adler.
Black, white and touches of silver create a glamorous, contemporary scheme inside the poolhouse. Benjamin Moore's White Dove was used for walls, wainscoting, ceiling and floors (where two coats of polyurethane on top add shine and durability).
A canopy in a striped Sunbrella fabric shades the poolhouse terrace, where McFadden frequently sets up tables for dinner parties.
Poolside, a Walpole Outdoors umbrella is paired with lounge chairs from Crate & Barrel.
