From tiger stripes to Paris flea-market finds — and a bedroom reminiscent of a Baskin-Robbins flavor! — a classic San Francisco pied-à-terre gets a personality-packed makeover thanks to hometown designers Martha Angus and Katie McCaffrey.

Dining Room

Designers Martha Angus and Katie McCaffrey added playful touches to the dining room of a San Francisco pied-à-terre — from the tiger-print Clarence House silk velvet on the antique French Empire – style chairs to the cloud-like Oly chandelier. Angus hand-painted the screens in a turquoise-and-yellow design inspired by the work of artist Larry Poons.

Living Room

In the living room, the designers mixed Benjamin Moore's Decorator's White with Gray Owl to create the ideal neutral. "For a traditional Edwardian home like this," Angus says, "adding gray to bright white keeps it feeling calm." The sofa, in a Weitzner linen, and slipper chairs, in a Nobilis velvet, are by A. Rudin.

The breakfast nook's banquette cushion is of a Moore & Giles lemon-lime leather with Samuel & Sons trim. "It's classic and pretty!" Angus says. The antique table was purchased by the homeowners from a Paris flea market and fitted with a Carrara marble top. Wayne Thiebaud's Dark Cakes and Pies hangs above the table. Refrigerator, Sub-Zero.

In the family room, a Stark ikat rug in citron sets an energetic tone. "We wanted to keep this space feeling fresh, livable, and comfy," Angus says. The Design Within Reach sectional, in ivory leather, and the A. Rudin swivel chair, upholstered in an indoor-outdoor fabric by Perennials, are both attractive and easy to clean.

A guest bedroom has aqua walls in Benjamin Moore's Opal Essence, and a bed upholstered in Cowtan & Tout's Malachite. "You want guests to be overjoyed when you show them to their rooms," Angus says. Side table, Bungalow 5. A Lee Industries stool is in a JAB Anstoetz velvet.
