Dawson Leery’s iconic Dawson’s Creek waterfront home just sold for $2.73 million after six months on the market.
The historic North Carolina property changed ownership for the first time in its 148-year history.
The beloved filming location features 134 feet of waterfront, a private pier, and the show’s famous floating dock.
After six months on the market, Dawson Leery’s home has officially sold for $2.73 million. The classic white Colonial in North Carolina, famously featured on the late 1990s hit Dawson’s Creek, sits along the banks of Hewletts Creek and boasts a private pier, 134 feet of waterfront property, and the iconic floating dock that served as the backdrop for some of the WB drama’s most memorable moments.
While the home’s blue-gray coastal views are already cemented in pop culture history, the home itself is quite historic. Originally built in 1880—118 years before Dawson’s Creek premiered—the property had never changed ownership in its 148-year history. According to reporting from Realtor.com, the home was listed by Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage in October 2025 for $3.3 million. It ultimately sold for roughly $500,000 under asking, despite the listing emphasizing the property’s “cultural and historical significance.”
Though Dawson’s Creek was set in the fictional town of Capeside, Massachusetts, fans will instantly recognize the 1.7-acre Wilmington property and the surrounding waterways, which frequently appeared throughout the show’s nearly five-year run. While most interior scenes were filmed on a soundstage, producers relied heavily on the North Carolina coastline to create the series’ signature beach town charm. The dock, in particular, became an iconic filming location—most notably during the emotional Season 3 finale, when Dawson watches Joey choose Pacey over him.
The 2,465-square-foot home includes four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, a fireplace-lined living room, and a screened porch overlooking the water. A sweeping willow tree with a classic wood swing only adds to the nostalgic charm. While the property has undergone routine renovations over the years, its classic character remains largely untouched. The listing also highlighted the home’s redevelopment potential, citing its expansive lot, waterfront access, and coveted location. Now that the property has officially changed hands, fans can only wonder what’s next for one of television’s most recognizable waterfront homes.
