“Hermitage Bay in Antigua is a beautiful boutique resort that remains a favorite," says designer Julie Terrell. "It is luxury in its most laidback and natural form and features farm-to-table cuisine. Each private villa is located on a quiet cove climbing the mountain. They all have beautiful views and offer fabulous indoor and outdoor living spaces. All you really need is a good book and sunscreen, and you’ll be very happy.”
Designer Cyndy Cantley is a self-proclaimed snob when it comes to travel. So, she says, "the idea of an all-inclusive resort conjured images of watered-down cocktails, bad wine, buffets, and questionable linens."
After staying at Grand Velas Riviera Maya, she was happy to be proven wrong. "From the moment I arrived, it was clear this was not a typical all-inclusive," she explains. "The property is lush, refined, and thoughtfully designed. Nestled between the jungle and the Caribbean Sea, every space is curated. The cocktails were perfection, the food better than many restaurants I’ve paid dearly for, and the service was impeccable. And perhaps my favorite part: the little monkeys who visited my terrace every evening. Grand Velas didn’t just exceed my expectations, it reset them.”
Located in Sedona’s iconic Boynton Canyon, Mii Amo is an all-inclusive destination spa with wellness at the forefront. Guests can lounge by the outdoor pool with views of the area’s signature red rocks, or engage in the various spa offerings, from sound and light baths to a diverse massage menu. Plus, there’s a striking conversation pit drenched in deep coral velvet—every ‘70s design lover’s dream. "The beauty of the surrounding canyons was our inspiration for the lounge areas, casitas, and on-site dining," the design firm EDG revealed on Instagram.
Situated in the Austrian Alps, Hotel Nesslerhof is a family-owned, all-inclusive retreat with direct access to one of the largest ski areas in Europe. With Nordic-inspired design, the hotel has a cozy feel and boasts a deep connection to the outdoors. “Until this year, I had only been to one all-inclusive resort—and to be honest, it wasn’t a great experience," says House Beautiful's assistant market editor Catherine DiPersico. "The food was bad, the amenities were dated, and the offerings felt generic and completely disconnected from the local culture. But this June, I decided to give the all-inclusive style another shot, and I’m so glad I did."
At Iberostar Selection Paraíso Lindo on the Riviera Maya, DiPersico had the opposite experience. "The property was beautifully designed, the food was genuinely delicious (I didn’t have a single bad meal!), and the resort offered a range of intentional, immersive, and educational activities. It’s safe to say: Iberostar officially converted me to the all-inclusive lifestyle.”
Designer Jeremiah Brent is an avid traveler, and the Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya left him eager to travel more than he already does. Brent admires the resort, which has an all-inclusive summer package, for its geometric architecture and water features. "They designed the space with careful layouts and materials to seamlessly blend in with nature," he told Hilton. "A perfect execution of how indoors should meet the outdoors."
He added, "From the local cuisine to the jungle pathways, there’s so much beauty to discover without even leaving the property."
