Generally speaking, major appliances like refrigerators, washing machines, and ranges last a long time. But when one of them does bite the dust, it can make for some pretty panicky moments (and why does it always happen when you're about to throw a party or have weekend guests?). Whether you've got a machine that's limping along or you're just eager for a higher-tech, more stylish-looking upgrade, this is a sale you should seriously check out: The Home Depot offers the largest selection of options, with every major innovation you can think of and some you haven't yet, and at its spring appliance event—happening now—you'll get the very best prices. (In fact, on many items, The Home Depot has a price-match guarantee.) We took a spin through appliances from two of the chain's top-selling brands, GE and Samsung, to show you a sample of the savings that await.

Refrigerators have come a long way since an in-door water dispenser was a wow feature, and this GE Profile smart fridge has a bevy of appealing bells and whistles. But while we're talking water dispensers, this one ups the game in a truly useful way: Hands-free Autofill lets you walk away while it fills any container with filtered water, no risk of overflow. Other tech-forward pluses: an entire back wall of LEDs that illuminate the entire fridge, soft-close crisper drawers, and built-in wifi (which, among other functions, lets your phone alert you if someone accidentally leaves the door open).

Artificial intelligence leads to very real convenience in Samsung's Bespoke 4-Door French Door Refrigerator. Pairing it with the SmartThings app allows for an AI energy mode that lets you monitor and manage your refrigerator's power usage and reduce it by up to 10 percent. Another handy feature: the FlexZone Drawer; you can customize its temperature with five adjustable settings, so you decide whether you want to use it to store produce, say, or frozen foods.

Also in Samsung's Bespoke line, this do-it-all range includes an air-fry function with no preheating required. The cooktop's five burners include two with dual-ring elements so you can adjust the heat source to the size of your pan. If you're a parent, you'll also appreciate the control knobs' safety feature: They stay locked when the cooktop isn't in use.

The inevitable aftermath of a delicious home-cooked meal will feel much less burdensome with this Samsung dishwasher: You can skip pre-rinsing your plates and let the heavy-duty rotating jets of its StormWash System clean them from every angle. An automatic release on the door opens it at the end of the cycle to let the steam dissipate. With the SmartThings app on your phone, you can start or stop a cycle from anywhere in the house (or anywhere with wifi). But you may never feel the need to, since the dryer is so quiet, you can be dishing up dessert right next to it and not realize it's on.

GE Profile's latest dishwasher has a sleek, ultra-contemporary look and multiple thoughtful features. If you've ever had to shake excess water off storage container lids before putting them away, Dry Boost is for you; GE says the technology outperforms standard dishwasher drying cycles by getting hard-to-dry items like plastics up to three times drier. Hard-to-clean items get attention, too: four bottle-wash jets ensure tall items, slim glasses, and narrow-necked jars emerge sparkling.

GE's 2-in-1 washer/dryer will deliver a load of clean, dry laundry in about 90 minutes without the hassle of transferring clothes from one machine to another. (Sorry, folding is still on you.) It's also gentler on garments, using less heat to quickly dry even large loads. If yours is a household with furry friends, you'll appreciate the pet-hair removal feature, which uses a high-speed air cycle before the washing starts to dislodge pet hair and capture it in the lint filter.

Another all-in-one washer-dryer, the Samsung Bespoke Laundry Combo handles both functions in one machine and even automatically dispenses the detergent. There's also a planet-friendly "Less Microfiber" cycle for synthetic textiles, which reduces 39 percent of the microfibers that might otherwise escape into the world's oceans.
