Like anyone who owns a house, I’m constantly daydreaming about grand home-improvement projects. However, as a shopping editor who spends a lot of time on Amazon, my screened-in-deck dreams might need to be put on hold, now that I know this gorgeous solarium exists. Hear me out: Installing this solarium in your yard would be cheaper than knocking out one of your walls and building a sunroom addition.
This solarium comes with just about everything you need to build it, except a floor, so you’ll need to build it on a level patio, deck, gravel, or a compacted and flat area in your yard. If the project feels a bit beyond your skill set, several Amazon customers recommend hiring an experienced builder.
Once the construction part is out of the way, you’ll have an indoor-outdoor space that can be used year-round. It has sliding doors, roof ventilation, and mesh-panel windows. Hooks on the ceiling allow you to hang lights, a lightweight fan, decor, or a speaker. And while the frame is made of a double-layered metal (aluminum on the sides, galvanized steel on the roof), the whole structure has a wood-grain finish.
The solarium is available in sizes from 10’ x 12’ up to 12’ x 20’. For example, the 12’ x 14‘ size we’re featuring can fit a dining table that seats 12 people. But you can get creative with how you use your new solarium. Add a patio furniture set with extra chairs and floor pillows. (Imagine inviting your friends and family to “retire to the solarium” for after-dinner drinks!) Or maybe you’d turn it into an art studio, home gym, or a reading room. As a gardener, I’d definitely turn this solarium into a greenhouse for the winter.
If you have the space, this is the type of home upgrade that adds instant luxury to your yard. I also found a few other impressive kits on Amazon, too, if you’re looking for a different style.
