3 min readSome of us get the best sleep of our lives on vacation. After all, you’re in a more relaxed state, and if you’re staying in a luxurious getaway, the mattress and bedding will be top-notch. It’s no surprise then that many of us love the feel of high-quality sheets at hotels and want to recreate that magic at home. One such brand I love? Frette, which is used on Disney cruises.
Not only that, but Frette linens are used at over 100 five-star hotels around Italy, including iconic properties like Le Sirenuse, Four Seasons Hotel Milano, The St. Regis hotels, and more. The linens are made from 100 percent long-staple cotton, contributing to their luxuriously fresh, light, and crisp feeling. It was in Italy where I actually came across the sheets and fell in love with them.
Let me set the scene: It all started in August 2021 when I went on vacation and stayed in a hotel in Italy with my sister. As soon as I plopped down on the bed, I knew I had found the sheets I was looking for all my life because I didn't want to move: they were silky soft! Though the sheets were cotton, it felt like I was sleeping on a cloud, and I didn't slide around on the bed. I was genuinely excited to end the day of sightseeing in Italy in order to get back into bed and feel the comfort of the sheets again!
I have run into many issues with most of the bed linens I’ve tried before Frette. They either began to pill, weren’t cooling enough (if you're a hot sleeper, you need these sheets), or deteriorated too quickly over the years. I just wanted cotton sheets, a high thread count, and clean corners. I wanted my bed to look perfect every time I made it, and I wanted that crisp “just washed” feeling to last through the week.
During my trip, I realized I wanted to replicate the feeling of a luxurious hotel bed with sheets that would last me 10 years or more with proper care, too. I loved Frette so much that while I was still on my trip, I ordered a few items from their Lux Percalle collection and their H by Frette range to my home in Texas. They arrived quickly, and even the packaging was luxurious, including a nice reusable bag to store the linens.
Since their linens are such high quality, I spent more money on them than I usually do, hoping that I wouldn’t have to buy new sheets every couple of years. The Lux Percalle Sheet Set by Frette is usually $525, but it’s currently on sale. If you want something more affordable, I recommend its Percale Simple Sheet Set, which is about $153 for the queen size. The only difference I noticed between the two sets I bought is that the Percale Simple Sheet Set has simpler stitching and comes only in white. Meanwhile, the Lux Percalle collection has hemstitch finishing and also comes in ivory. That said, the Percale Simple Sheet collection is just as soft and comfortable as the more expensive set.
Before finding Frette, I was pleased with the Casaluna range at Target, but Frette felt like a whole new level of comfort that really brought the hotel feel right into my own bedroom. When I make the bed with it, my partner can instantly tell the sheets are the Frette ones! It's easy to smooth the sheets out in the morning, and they don't wrinkle heavily overnight like other brands I've tried. The cotton feels silky, breathable, and lightweight.
I’ve had them for almost two years and have had no issues with threads, pilling, discoloration, or tears. Out of the dryer, they look the same as two years ago and are just as soft. Although you can order sheets directly from the brand, select Frette sheets are also available on Amazon, so if you want to get them sooner, look on Amazon first. The sheets are certainly an investment but worth every penny.
