The Best Area Rugs That Leave Our Editors' Rooms Feeling Cozier Than Ever Before

"Over the past few weeks, the Blaze has gotten even softer beneath my feet and still feels and looks just as luxurious as when we first vacuumed," Shouse says. Digital Director Blair Donovan is admittedly picky about rugs, but this pick from Jake Arnold's Lulu and Georgia collaboration won her over. "I finally splurged on the 8 x 10 size during Black Friday, and I’m so glad I did," Donovan says. "It’s even softer and plushier than I expected (as well as everyone who steps on it) and so far fairly easy to spot clean in my bedroom. It has been shedding slightly, which is the only downside, but the online care instructions claimed this would only last a few months."

To complement the nature-inspired color palette of her home, Liao wanted a green rug for the living room. "I picked this one from Rugs USA after seeing an influencer talk about it because I love the deep verdant shade and the fact it’s 80 percent wool," Liao says. "It also looks similar to the ones I love from Nordic Knots, but at half the price. We bought the 8’ size in round, which I was a little scared of because I’m not used to working with circular rugs and prefer the look of rectangular ones, but the circle was what suited our open concept living space the best. I’m glad we took a chance on it because not only is this rug comfortable—it is not scratchy and feels cushiony underfoot—but it has held up so well in the two years we’ve had it despite my dog pawing at it every so often to nest."

When searching for an affordable wool rug for her bedroom, Senior Commerce Editor Marina Liao was spoiled for choice on Rugs USA's site. "This yellow rug instantly brightened up the space and looked great with the walnut color of my Thuma bed frame" Liao says. "The Petra is pretty much the same wool rug as my green one from Rugs USA, just with a different design, so it’s soft underfoot, plush, thick, and easy to spot clean. If you don't want a completely plain wool rug, the Petra is a nice option because of the border design that doesn't feel too out there. This rug isn't good if you have a cat or dog, though, because their claws will accidentally catch in the tiny square patches that border the rug (the woven design here is different than the rest of the rug!), and the loops will get pulled out."

Jute rugs can be especially forgiving in high-traffic areas, as Donovan learned with this pick. "I’ve always loved the look of jute and sisal rugs, but I worried the coloring would blend in with my living room’s light-toned floors," Donovan says. "This rug has seen food spills aplenty, but you’d never be able to tell. A tasseled border also sets this apart from other simple jute styles, and there’s a size and shape available for pretty much any room. It’s not as soft as, say, a wool rug, but I still find this one comfortable underfoot."

On the hunt for a large rug under her King bed, Commerce Manager Mackenzie Dunn opted for this budget-friendly rug. "Though it is screen-printed (versus loomed), it has a soft, almost blanket-like feel that's plush to the touch," Dunn says. "Its not the thickest rug in the world, but it still provides nice cushioning without a rug pad underneath. I did a lot of research to find the perfect Amazon rug, and I honestly like this one so much that I may have to get another design for another room in the house. "
