1Make It Glossy
Brent Darby / House BeautifulThis attic ensuite makes a dramatic statement with glossy emerald green metro tiles contrasted with modern terrazzo flooring. Despite the space constraints (a sloping wall and limited storage, so wall-hung furniture was key) this bathroom feels incredibly spacious.

2Layer Textures
Sanctuary BathroomsTexture is a key component in any beautifully designed space, and this sleek, pared-back, doorless walk-in shower is one of our favourites. The simplicity of the stone-coloured square tiles contrasted against the exposed brick wall and the herringbone wooden flooring is a delight! The glass screen offers a seamless partition, and the brushed brass shower set adds the right amount of luxe.

3Let The Light In
Tavistock BathroomsWe don't know what we love more – the gorgeously tiled curved shower enclosure, the practical bench, or the circular glass rooflight. Combined, this space packs a design punch. This feels like real luxury!

4Double Up On Patterns
Lindsay SalazarProof that you can totally double up on pattern in your bathroom. If this doorless walk-in shower by Emma Ainscough was just plain white on the inside, it wouldn't look nearly as cool – the stripes next to the pink and ivory chequerboard flooring just works. The archway presents a peek-a-boo feel, which we also love.

5Make A Feature Of Tiles
Brent Darby / House BeautifulThis tiled walk-in shower makes a big statement. The gorgeous burnt orange Hoxton tiles from Mandarin Stone combined with black modern fittings, a black window frame and shower screen, plus Setting Plaster by Farrow & Ball on the walls, is a winning combination. Already open and inviting thanks to its doorless look, this sense of spaciousness is further amplified with large format floor tiles.

6Measure Up
Shade DeggesYou can't really have a doorless walk-in shower in a super small space unless you want water to splash everywhere, so one of the first things you need to do before setting your heart on this design decision is to make sure your shower enclosure is large enough. In this neutral bathroom by Jae Joo, the designer didn't even need to add that much of a glass wall to separate the shower from the rest of the space because the square footage in the shower stall was generous enough.

7Embrace Stripes
Bert & MayTalk about a tile drench! Covering the walls and floor in these bold blue and white diagonal striped tiles helps to elongate this doorless walk-in shower area. The chrome fittings pair well and doesn't distract from the feature tiles, while the rug, storage basket, and wooden stool add texture.

8Arch Appeal
Tavistock BathroomsAnother arched entrance we adore; this is a fabulous architectural detail that creates more visual interest and helps make the shower feel like its own room – even without a door to close it off.

9Design A Shower Column
Emily Minton RedfieldRather than a shower section, turn your entire bathroom into the shower space, stripped of walls, doors or curtains. This shower column has two shower heads that sit right behind the gigantic copper tub made for two. It's the perfect couple's retreat.
10Rounded Forms
Varied FormsCombining soft curves with gorgeous inky blue vertical tiles is a winning formula in this bathroom design. It's bold and dramatic, yet with a nod to that luxe, spa-like aesthetic. Introduce lush plants to bring the outdoors in and add more organic forms (an arched mirror and oval countertop basin) for a harmonious look.

11Create A Shower Alcove
jessie prezaCreate a doorless walk-in shower in its own bathing alcove to amp up the luxury factor. In this design by Fitz Pullins, a mini hallway that leads to the shower area makes the space feel so much more grand.
