White bed sheets, a minimalist decorating style, and wooden floors are among the most popular bedroom features on Instagram, according to research by online bed and bath retailer Soak&Sleep.

Instagram has become a great source of interior design inspiration for the home, especially the bedroom. And with more than 11 million #bedroom and three million #bedroomdecor hashtags appearing on the social media platform, sharing our private bedroom sanctuaries have now become very public.

The Soak&Sleep team analysed the top five bedroom related hashtags to uncover the most Instagrammed bedrooms. Topping the list as the most popular feature is white bedsheets, with crisp white bed linen deemed a must-have. Queen-sized beds and beautiful headboards also make the top 10, while gold finishes, indoor plants and rattan are popular too, as well as a pink and grey colour scheme.

2. Big windows

Just under half (46 per cent) of the bedrooms pictured had plenty of natural light, helping to lift the mood and give a much-needed boost of vitamin D. To get the most out of your bedroom's natural light, keep windows unblocked by furniture, accessories, or heavy curtains.

3. Queen bed

They say that size doesn’t matter but when it comes to beds, but the most-loved Instagram bedrooms (43 per cent) are furnished with a double size mattress or larger. With a larger bed, there’s more room to stretch out, and for couples, there's less chance of disturbing your partner next to you (or have them disturb you!) throughout the night.
