Who says practical nursery furniture can't be stylish? From clever storage essentials to timeless cots (we're looking at you, Stokke), these beautiful yet hardworking buys will help you create a space you'll love spending time in.

Whether you're buying for a new parent (can we recommend Scandiborn's scalloped-edge nappy caddy) or furnishing your own nursery for the first time, we've uncovered the stylish buys worth making room for. You'll find everything from next-to-me cots to chic and practical storage shelves for dreamy displays.

But when it comes to planning your nursery furniture, Blanca Sanchez, Director, Halo Design Interiors, says to consider your needs beyond those first few months.

'Start by choosing furniture that will continue to work as your child grows,' she says. 'It's easy to be drawn to nursery furniture designed only for the baby stage. Instead, invest in timeless, well-made pieces that have a longer life.

'This also creates a more sophisticated room because you're building it around quality furniture instead of temporary baby products. Simple timber finishes, painted wood and clean lines tend to age much better than heavily themed furniture, and they make it easier to update the room with new accessories as your child gets older rather than redesigning the entire space.'

For Lara Clarke, founder of Lara Clarke Interiors, creating a nursery full of personality is key. 'I always treat it like any other room in the house rather than a separate 'baby' space,' she says. 'Start with a warm, soft neutral as your base, then layer in colour and pattern through cushions, artwork and a statement lampshade that are easy to swap out as your child grows.'

On that note, take a look at our top picks below:

Stokke may have made its name with the iconic Tripp Trapp highchairs, but their convertible cot beds deserve just as much attention.

The standout is the adaptable Nighti 3-in-1 bed, which cleverly grows with children from newborn to five years old. It ticks all the practical boxes – it's space-saving, sits on wheels and has an adjustable mattress height – while also showcasing beautifully crafted European wood that's perfect for a Scandi-style nursery.

'The most successful nurseries combine style and practicality without compromising either,' says Sofia Melograno, Product Marketing Director at Stokke.

'Keeping the design simple, avoiding unnecessary clutter, and choosing furniture with clean, timeless lines creates a cohesive look that doesn't feel overcrowded. Often, the most stylish nurseries are the ones where every item has a clear purpose.'

If you're looking for a cot that doesn't compromise on style, this one is your winning ticket.
