The House Beautiful team is of the unanimous belief that a room is incomplete without a rug, but considering just how expensive they can be, we are often tempted to wait for the Black Friday sales to buy our own. One of our brands of choice is Ruggable, the purveyor of machine-washable rugs, and they’ve just launched up to 30 per cent off for Black Friday.

If you’ve so much as opened Instagram in the past couple of years, chances are you’ve seen one of the many videos showing how Ruggable rugs detach from their underlay and bundle into the washing machine. Coffee stains, wine spills and muddy paw prints have yet to defeat a Ruggable product, making them the practical homeowner's brand of choice.

And they’re not just practical. Ruggable has more variety than you could possibly ever need – over 2,000 designs in square, rectangular, round and runner styles, and in a range of dimensions for both interior and exterior use.

Their list of design collaborators feels like the who’s who of the interiors world – one of our favourites is by Matthew Williamson – and they've worked with Jonathan Alder, Morris & Co. and Goop.

All Ruggable rugs come in two parts. There's the stain and water-resistant top layer – that’s the bit you pop in your washing machine – and the non-slip rubber base pad. The pad comes in a standard or cushioned option, depending on the bounceability you prefer.

We took one of their pieces home to put to the test – read our honest Ruggable review and what happened when we spilled coffee on it – and gave it top marks.

What's more, the brand recently launched a new all-in-one design, which comes with a built-in non-slip backing to eliminate the need for a separate rug pad. We tried one of these too, and – spoiler alert – we might just have a new favourite rug.

If you’ve ever considered a Ruggable design, now is the time to buy...
