Scandi florals are shaping up to be one of spring’s biggest interiors trends, and John Lewis’s new homeware collection with Danish artist Anine Cecilie Iversen is a chic case in point.
The exclusive range pairs modern florals with a Scandinavian sensibility – but one piece is already stealing the spotlight: the statement hand-tufted Zinnia rug that combines a bold, oversized motif with a softer, more considered palette.
Across the range, florals are reworked with a modern edge, appearing across textiles, tableware and lighting. Anine, an artist and graphic designer based in Copenhagen, draws on nature, simple illustration and bold colour – all of which she carries through into the collection, which is inspired by a ‘Scandinavian retro summer cottage’.
‘My childhood has inspired this collection, all my summer memories are reflected in these illustrations. My family home was surrounded by nature which I always found so calming, and inspiring,' she says.
You may already be familiar with Anine’s work. Her ‘La Poire’ artworks for John Lewis have proved hugely popular – with sales up 60 per cent year on year – making this move into homeware a natural next step.
