Scandi style is the surprising décor trend for Halloween this year, as interior lovers are set to swap spooky ghouls for pared-back white decorations.
It might be the season of pumpkins, skeletons, skulls and spider webs, but fright night this year takes its inspiration from simple Scandinavian homes, making a move from maximalism towards minimalism.
'This Halloween, home decor is taking a turn away from the traditional warm autumnal hues we're used to,' Crafted Beds say. 'Our study predicts that home decor lovers will opt for a minimal and monochromatic style this Halloween season, using mainly white and black decorations.'

1. White pumpkins
When it comes to decorating for Halloween, white pumpkins make a fun and unexpected accent for your table display, mantlepiece or entryway. With research discovering a 60 per cent increase in Google searches, they're set to be one of the biggest trends of the season.
Some white pumpkins can be found at pumpkin patches (if you're lucky), while other ways to tap into the trend is to paint orange pumpkins using white paint or to purchase artificial white pumpkins online (we love these light-up pumpkins from Lights4fun).
2. Swapping bats for butterflies
Looking to shake up your décor for Halloween? Why not swap bats for beautiful black butterflies instead. With an increase in 'black butterfly decor' searches on Etsy, it's another Halloween trend set to make moves in 2021. Perfect if you're on the hunt for a more feminine feel — and want to feel less spooked this season.
3. Swapping cobwebs for distressed black fabric
If you're bored of scaring guests with fake cobwebs and spine-chilling spider decorations, then you'll be pleased to know that this year is all about embracing distressed black fabric.
'Another trend appearing high in Pinterest search results this year is draped distressed black fabric over fireplaces and mantelpieces,' Crafted Beds explain. 'Replacing our usual cobwebs and spider accessories are these darker pieces, creating a much classier feel. This new statement is giving us Morticia Addams vibes!'
4. DIY ghost garlands
Put your creative hat on and make this season's biggest trend: tassel DIY ghost garlands. Another favourite on Pinterest, the cute-looking mini ghosts can be easily made using yarn and small black circles for eyes. While last year saw the rise of multicoloured pastel varieties, this Halloween is all about embracing ghostly white. It's a wickedly creative way to delight and fright.
