If you’ve ever admired Soho Home’s sculptural furniture and glossy trinkets, then reluctantly closed the tab after spotting the price of a lamp (us too), run, don’t walk to H&M Home’s new autumn collection.

Taking its cues from early 20th-century Modernism (read: smart and understated), the collection includes furniture, lighting, textiles and accessories with presence. The pieces are crafted in marble, brushed metal, warm woods and wool – materials you wouldn’t expect at this price point – and finished in universally appealing neutrals.

The result shares plenty of the DNA that has made Soho Home so covetable, with friendly prices starting at £6.99 for a cushion cover and stopping just shy of £400 for an enormous hand-woven rug.

Take a look at our top picks below...

This Chanel-coded cream and black blanket has the restraint of a classic windowpane check. Fold it over the arm of a sofa or across the bottom third of a bed, where the grid pattern will bring some definition without feeling too contemporary.

This is the sort of decorative piece that can make an inexpensive coffee table look far more polished. The burgundy and cream colouring feels especially good for autumn and it's useful too for corralling the less photogenic bits of daily life. Use it for jewellery, keys or the collection of cables that currently ruin your otherwise impeccable console table.

Chunky, angular legs give this wooden stool a bold and sophisticated profile. At this size, it has plenty of potential beyond extra seating. Try it as a compact bedside table, a perch for books beside an armchair or a pedestal for a favourite accessory.

Glossy stoneware and the exaggerated ridged shape gives this vase enough presence for a mantelpiece or dining table without requiring much styling around it. The narrow opening is useful, too, as it holds dramatic, tall stems upright.

A great option for the pattern averse. The fine black grid gives its nubbly texture a bit of structure – bouclé can veer into teddy bear-territory without it. Pop it in a neutral room if you want a suggestion of pattern without introducing a new colour.

Green Marble Side Table

This pistachio green, 100 per cent marble side table is one of the strongest pieces in the collection – and a total steal at £120. It has enough interesting veining to feel properly decorative, so you can leave it to do its thing without any fussy styling. An immediate add-to-basket.

Bolsters are very good at making a sofa or bed look more tailored, because their shape breaks up the usual line-up of square cushions. This brown velvet version has an almost hotel-like neatness to it and an iridescent finish that feels totally luxurious.

Travertine Wall Shelf

Travertine has become a design-world favourite for good reason. Its porous surface and natural variation give even a very simple form plenty of character, and here the slim stone shelf paired with a metal bracket feels especially smart. This would be great beside a bed in lieu of a bulky bedside table, or in a hallway to hold keys.

The small-scale quilting gives this neutral bedspread some surface texture and a comfortable squish. A bedspread also gives a more tailored outline than a loose duvet alone, particularly when it’s pulled almost to the floor. If the dimensions work with your bed frame, that extra drop can help disguise under-bed storage too.

Wooden Sideboard

At £200, this is one of the collection’s bigger buys, but the proportions feel especially sophisticated. The low, long shape gives you useful storage without taking up much visual space, and the open compartments suit magazines, records and baskets particularly well.
