Ever wondered what happens to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show gardens once the gates close on Saturday? While the spectacular displays may only last a few days, many go on to have a meaningful second life at schools, hospitals, hospices and community spaces across the UK.

As part of the RHS Garden Legacy initiative, every garden must have a plan to be relocated, reused or repurposed after the show. Once a new home has been chosen, each garden is carefully adapted to suit its new setting so it can continue to be enjoyed by the local community.

'The RHS Shows are constantly driving towards a lower carbon footprint and as part of the RHS Sustainability Strategy, they aim to become net positive within the decade. Part of this process is the relocation, reuse and repurposing of show gardens from RHS Shows,' says the gardening charity.

You can visit rhs.org.uk/gardenlegacy to discover where previous Chelsea Flower Show gardens have been relocated, including details on how to visit them.

From small-space balcony gardens to award-winning showstoppers, here’s where many of this year’s Chelsea gardens will live on after the show.

The garden will be relocated to Strabane Foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust community in Northern Ireland. They provide emergency food and practical support to people in their hardest times.

'That's over 50 per cent more than the same period five years ago. It's not right that anyone faces hunger in the UK – we should all have enough money for the essentials. The garden tells the story of how, together, we can end hunger in the UK with everyone playing their part.'
