IKEA's Christmas tree offer has been scrapped for England and Northern Ireland this year, and instead will only be available in a small number of stores in Scotland and Wales.
The Swedish furniture retailer's highly-anticipated annual Christmas tree offer is always a firm favourite as the festive season approaches, and last year it gave customers the chance to get an affordable, high-quality real tree for just £15.
Helping Christmas purse strings stretch even further, the scheme sees IKEA gift customers a £10 voucher (to redeem against a range of IKEA homewares in the new year) when buying a real fir tree for £25 – meaning you effectively get a tree for just £15.
But following a recent decline, IKEA has made some changes for Christmas 2023. The scheme has been scrapped for England and Northern Ireland this year and real trees will not be sold in store. However, the offer will be available in IKEA stores in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
'We've made the difficult decision not to sell real Christmas trees from IKEA stores in England and Northern Ireland,' IKEA said. 'Whilst we know the long-standing Christmas tree offer has made them amongst some of the most affordable on the market, we've seen a decline in demand over recent years.
'In Scotland, locally grown Nordmann Firs will still be available in the Glasgow and Edinburgh stores from 18th November 2023, while stocks last. With their purchase, customers will receive £10 off any spend over £60 on their next visit to IKEA Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Aberdeen between 8th January to 17th February 2024.'
For those local to the Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen stores, IKEA's real Christmas trees will be sold for £29 this year.
IKEA has also authorised several external partners to sell Christmas trees from car parks (where payment will be taken, rather than in-store), so you may find some of these in your local stores across England.
For example, IKEA Croydon has teamed up with Purley Way Christmas Trees, where customers can get 10 per cent off Christmas decorations if they buy a real tree from this external partner.
