Notonthehighstreet has unveiled its first airtime TV Christmas advert in three years, focusing on the importance of supporting small businesses over the festive season.
Titled The Magic of Small Things, the one-minute ad taps into our national shift towards supporting local businesses, cherishing the simple moments of connection that have become even more important this year.
The ad — which was filmed in COVID-safe conditions — begins with a young boy who surprises his post lady with a Christmas present. Celebrating the magic of small things, we also see two girls make their mum a creamy hot chocolate and a grandma let her young grandchildren indulge in freshly-baked mince pies.
Interwoven within the ad is plenty of beautiful handcrafted Notonthehighstreet.com gifts, including tree decorations, ceramic mugs, plates, fairy lights, blankets and table decor.
Designed by independent creative agency, Friendly Giants, the campaign consists of a 60-second, two 30-second and six 10-second creatives, which act as 'gentle but powerful call-to-arms' to remember what the festive season is all about.
'Everyone knows how tough this year has been, and with a second national lockdown upon us we know this Christmas is likely to be the toughest in quite some time,' says Gavin Leisfield, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Friendly Giants.
'But the emotional and financial instability of this year has unveiled our humanity. There's been a huge swelling of hope and small kindnesses among communities and individuals alike.
'Whether it's the outpouring of support for the NHS and frontline workers, new bonds forged with neighbours — or in the case of notonthehighstreet's small business Partners, making beautiful, bespoke products that have kept our loved ones close as we've been forced to keep our distance.'
Ella d'Amato, CCMO at notonthehighstreet, also comments: 'More than ever, consumers are focused on the small things that really matter whether that's showing a loved one you're thinking of them, cherishing a cosy moment at home, or choosing to buy from a small business for whom every sale counts.'
