Ever since Escape to the Chateau first aired on Channel 4 in 2016, we fell in love with Dick and Angel Strawbridge and their expansive French home, Château de la Motte-Husson in the Pays de la Loire region. And over the years we’ve seen them transform and restore the chateau back to its former glory.

However, after almost eight years since they first got the keys and six years of the TV show, the couple are bidding farewell to Escape to the Chateau.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on Lorraine, the couple shared their plans for the future and how emotional they found it filming their final episode. 'We literally finished filming a week ago and it was really emotional,' Angel revealed. 'It was a really happy emotion,' however.

'Joyful is exactly the word,' Dick said.

'There's not many times that you get all of your family and friends together, when it's a happy moment like that,' Angel said. 'And boy, it was a party as well'.

Although this is the end of the Channel 4 show, it's not the end of the couple's chateau restoration project.

'It's the end of a chapter, not of the book and there's a lot to do,' Angel confirmed. The couple recently refitted five new windows but there's still 60 more to go. 'It's going to be an ongoing project and there's always something to get done,' Dick said. 'Plus, we've got France to explore.'

You might also see Dick and Angel on the road again with their hit Dare To Do It! Tour, where after a few successful stints in the UK, will be heading to Australia and New Zealand from February to March 2023.

The Escape To The Chateau Christmas special airs this Sunday on Channel 4 at 8pm. You can also catch up with every episode and previous series on All4.
