The best gin glasses to complete your G&T

Many things go into making the perfect gin and tonic and one of them is the right glassware. What you serve a drink in matters, hugely, the wrong glass can dramatically lessen the enjoyment.

The trend at the moment is for large balloon shaped 'copa' glasses, which lend themselves to the Spanish way of drinking a G&T AKA, full of ice and heavy on the tonic. A more classic option is to go for a short crystal rocks glass and serve your gin and tonic with a 'one part gin – two part tonic' ratio.

However, it's worth thinking about your table and your other glassware. What sort of gin glass will complement your water glasses for example, or look snazzy on your home bar? Because any nice glass can work as a gin glass, you just have to adjust the ice, tonic and garnish to suit.

However, if you're indulging in a delicious aged gin or sipping gin neat then a tasting glass or something fluted is best – it helps to waft all those incredible aromas in the right direction. As for your martinis? Well, they're called martini glasses for a reason...
