'A lot of my crockery is from charity shops. I love a secondhand find.'

'Well, I used to say to my dad, "I went to the sale and saved 15 per cent’, and he’d say ‘no you didn’t, you spent 85 per cent", so I’m not a massive bargain hunter.'

'Re-upholstery. I’ve had some chairs for 20 years, and 16 years ago we bought an enormous painting of a cow in Scotland by Jenny Kerr. We paid about £1,000 and it’s now worth £4,000 to £5,000.'

I then sanded it down and painted it. Every now and again I paint it a different colour. At the moment, it's pale grey on top with dark grey legs.'
