Step into Gustaf Westman's colourful, dopamine-filled studio flat in Stockholm — then stay a while. Home-swapping platform Kindred is offering members a rare chance to trade places with the cult-favourite Swedish designer.
Whether you're familiar with his name or not, chances are you've come across Gustaf Westman's designs online, instantly recognisable for their playful, exaggerated forms. Impossibly chunky and washed in pastels, his mirrors, plates, candleholders and magazine racks somehow never fail to amuse.
This tongue-in-cheek aesthetic, which often teeters on the edge of impracticability, seems to be perfectly attuned to the zeitgeist. Take, for example, his latest creation: a bubblegum pink baguette made for his recent Paris pop-up. As a surprise to no one, it instantly went viral on Instagram.
Since launching his eponymous studio in 2020, the former architect has drawn plenty of attention – but 2025 is shaping up to be his biggest year yet. In June, Gustaf announced a collaboration with Swedish furniture giant Ikea, set to launch later this year. Meanwhile, his European Pop Up Tour continues to draw crowds across the continent.
And now, possibly catching exactly the right moment before Gustaf firmly rockets off into design stardom, the home-swapping platform Kindred is offering members a chance to stay in Gustaf's one-bedroom flat in Stockholm.
The initiative is a creative extension of the touring concept, where he showcases new pieces, not in galleries but in lived-in spaces.

'There's something unique about letting people experience my designs in a personal space where there is no curation whatsoever, just my own creative chaos of whatever I'm working on at that moment,' says Gustaf. 'It's a full expression of my world.'
Filled to the brim with the designer's signature homeware – squiggly mirrors, chunky plates and all – the flat offers more than just a stay. It's an immersion into the mind of a designer on the rise.
