Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have sold Pickle Cottage – their Grade II-listed, 16th-century Tudor-style country home in Essex that Stacey has been renovating since 2021.

‘We’re moving out of Pickle Cottage, which I never, ever thought I would say,’ revealed Stacey in an emotional Instagram video message. ‘The reason we haven’t said anything up until this point is that – as anyone who has moved will know – you don’t know if it’s going to happen until it actually happens.’

The cottage has become a fixture on Stacey’s Instagram account, as she regularly shared the ups and downs of transforming the historic home. From decorating rooms and tackling DIY projects to creating a greenhouse, Stacey documented much of the renovation.

More recently, their family home also became the focus of Stacey & Joe, a fly-on-the-wall reality TV series on BBC which aired in April 2025.

‘We waited until someone amazing came along who fell in love with Pickle Cottage,’ continued Stacey.

Pickle Cottage holds plenty of special memories for the family. Stacey and Joe live with their three children, Rex, Rose and Belle, as well as Stacey's two sons, Leighton and Zachary, from previous relationships. ‘I gave birth to both of the girls there and we got married there, so it’s so special,’ Stacey adds.

While the couple haven’t given precise reasons for the move, they did hint at the need for more space.

‘I’ve always wanted to rescue more animals and grow more vegetables – my vegetable patch, I’ve got so much joy out of it,’ Stacey explains. ‘However, it’s on Farmer Scott’s land, not mine – so we thought if there was ever a chance to move further out and get a bit more land then we’d consider it.

‘We saw somewhere and I thought, oh my god, we could have a massive vegetable patch, we could offer our land to animals who need it, and we could bring the horses back.’

The couple are moving house imminently, and despite describing Pickle Cottage as their dream home, ‘we’ve found somewhere where we can see our family growing and really flourishing’, adds Joe.

While the location of their new home remains under wraps for now, Stacey says it’s a project that needs a lot of love.

‘I loved bringing Pickle Cottage back to life… and I’m excited to do that all again somewhere else. We’re going to be saying goodbye to Pickle Cottage and hello to Pickle Project.’
