From 2009 to 2011, the Obama family took to Martha’s Vineyard for their much-needed vacation time. While on the island, they stayed in the Blue Heron Farm in Chilmark Pond, a secluded property on 9.5 acres of land.
Built in 1961, the house was fully renovated by architect Rick Sunderberg and landscape architect Steve Stimson in 2006, and features a boat dock, infinity pool, basketball court, and pond. Inside are six bedrooms, seven baths, a chef’s kitchen, three fireplaces, and a guest house (for Secret Service or your in-laws). Floor-to-ceiling windows look out on expansive ocean views.
The house was put on the market for $22.5 million (£17.55 million) towards the end of the Obama presidency, and over time, the selling price was dropped of $15 million (£11.7 million). The buyer was Menemshovitz Realty Trust.
