Aldi's repeatedly sold-out casserole dish is back in stores – and it's 93 per cent cheaper than Le Creuset's renowned version.
As if Le Creuset's enamel casserole dishes weren’t already coveted enough, Meghan Markle's new Netflix show has just given the French cookware brand an additional endorsement.
Meghan's single-skillet spaghetti, which she prepares in one of Le Creuset's white shallow casseroles, is currently going viral, with hundreds of fans sharing tutorials on how to recreate the pasta dish – many using their own Le Creuset pots to do it.
So there could've been no better time for Aldi to restock their affordable casserole dishes. To the excitement of followers on Instagram, the UK's cheapest supermarket chain announced that its Dutch ovens are back in store – at a whopping £256 cheaper than the French original.
Aldi's 22cm cast iron casserole dish, which comes in blue and pink, is an absolute steal at just £19, while Le Creuset’s model of the same size will set you back £275.
Is it worth the mini-splurge? We haven't been able to try the casserole dish firsthand yet, but if reviews, word of mouth and social media's enthusiasm are to be believed, then the answer is yes. After all, there’s a reason why Aldi's cookware flies off the shelves the moment it hits stores, known for decent quality at a more-than-fair price. Plus: the Aldi version holds 4 litres compared to Le Creuset's 3.3 litres.
Aldi no longer offers online shopping, so run – don't walk – to your nearest branch. Good luck, and see you in the middle aisle!
