IKEA has launched three new collections for spring/summer 2023 — Vivid Wonderland, Glorious Green and Simple Serenity — as part of its wider 'Transitions' theme.
The Swedish retailer is encouraging simple, sustainable tweaks that will refresh our homes. As we prepare for hosting (and dust off our garden furniture sets), the three collections offer affordable accents, home furnishing accessories and beautiful buys to lift tired corners. Unlike previous homeware drops, they are looking at the small ways we can adapt our homes by investing in quality products that stand the test of time.

Clashing bright reds, powder pinks, vivid yellows and burnt oranges are on the agenda for SS23. IKEA's Vivid Wonderland transition brings this vibrancy to life, 'evoking memories of the bold era of 70s style' and 'injecting a fresh lease of life into your space'.
Clotilde Passalacqua, Interior Design Manager at IKEA UK and Ireland, says: 'Expressing ourselves through our interiors is incredibly important, as when our identity is mirrored in our decor, it really helps to create a sense of home and belonging. Colour is incredibly emotive, and we can have deeply rooted associations with certain tones.'
Keep it simple this summer season. 'People globally are finding comfort in their homes and are opting to spend more time under their own roofs to unwind, relax and rest,' adds Clotilde.
'To evoke serenity in the home, try implementing one or two colours as a base and then adding crisp, sleek lines for an element of modernity. Materials such as glassware, steel and mesh can also add depth, with textures bringing a layer of comfort, transforming the look and feel of a space.'

According to the 2022 IKEA Life at Home Report, more people agree that accessing green space is important for maintaining their mental wellbeing. Meanwhile, others said that green helps to evoke a sense of calm.
'Even three years on from the start of the pandemic, its effects continue to impact our interiors choices,' adds Clotilde. 'People have increasingly felt the desire to bring nature into their homes. Whether breathing new life into a corner with a leafy houseplant or adding a succulent to a side table, nature helps to add visual calmness to a room and support a relaxed life at home.'
When it comes to sprucing up your bedroom or living room, pay close attention to the materials you choose.
Clotilde suggests: 'Consider materials as well as colour tones when styling each room. Fresh cotton-blends pair well with rich velvets and accents of wood, with touches of textured glass completing this transition.'
Elsewhere in IKEA's report, research found that more people are creating grounding and peaceful homes than ever before. In fact, over 50 per cent of people globally believe the most important aspect of an ideal home is the ability to relax and unwind.
'Introducing small additions, such as the DEJSA table lamp (pictured) and BASTUA mirror, can evoke a more ambient feel and enhance the sense of self-soothing that many are looking for in their homes.'
