2LG unveil their on-trend, pink-tiled bathroom, as part of their house renovation.
Not everyone would risk going all out with a pink bathroom, but this recent renovation proves it might just be worth taking the risk. 2LG Studio designed a new contemporary bathroom while renovating their period home. Take a tour of what is now their 'favourite room' of the house...
Is this your dream pink bathroom? Well it's certainly the dream for 2LG, creative duo, Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead. Perry Rise - The Design House, is 2LG's Victorian detached house in south-east London, which they moved into in early 2015. It's also their working space, and since they moved in, they've set about renovating their home, room by room.
'The challenge is to sensitively renovate the home and create bespoke spaces that allow us to express ourselves and showcase our design perspective,' they said in their blog.
Russell said the bathroom 'needed to fulfil Jordan's dream of the perfect relaxing bath and my dream of a big open shower room.' The designers had been 'living without a shower and only a rubber hose' on the old bath, but their renovation has now turned it into a luxury space.
'It is a relatively small space and we have managed to both get what we wanted without the compromise,' they explained.
The Amiata bath by Victoria + Albert Baths has an Italian, 80s vibe, and sits under the newly refurbished sash window, which floods the room with light.
The design duo used Victorian Pink by Tile Giant – an unglazed porcelain tile that creates a neutral and warm look.
'Usually you might expect to see this type of tile in a traditional victorian hallway or external pathway, but they work beautifully for an interior,' explain Jordan and Russell. 'They are through coloured, meaning that we could create shelving with them and keep the edges exposed. And the matt texture is so soft underfoot. They have been a revelation to us and somehow they have managed to feel so contemporary whilst having an authentic connection to the Victorian setting.'
Keeping the theme pink and white, the Barcelona basin by Victoria + Albert Baths sits on its own shelf just below the large circular bespoke fitted mirror, which actually hides a cupboard and shaving point! Overall, the pink tiles, clean lines and classic features fit in with the style of the Victorian house.
Having focused on other rooms in the house, it took Jordan and Russell two years to get round to renovating their bathroom. 'It was all worth it though and it feels like our favourite room in the house right now – such a luxury,' they said.
