Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year 2027: Celery.

In collaboration with HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams, the beloved paint company has named one nature-inspired hue the top trendsetter for 2027.

This year’s pick comes straight from the garden bed. Celery SW 6421 is a soft, muted green with notable yellow undertones and organic flair. The nearly pastel shade pairs perfectly with deeper hues, like espresso brown, soft lilacs, inky navies, or even bold maroons.

When paired with deep browns, Celery brings a sophisticated flair. When coupled with jewel tones, the shade channels an air of elegance.

While applications may be versatile, its values are not. Celery reflects the heightened cultural longing for wellness-centered homes and sustainability-minded innovation. Sherwin-Williams’ 2026 pick, Universal Khaki SW6150, carried a similar sentiment through subtle earthy yellow and green undertones.

“Celery was chosen as the 2027 Color of the Year because it reflects today's priorities: wellness, balance, and connection," said Ashley Banbury, color marketing manager at Sherwin-Williams, in a press release unveiling the color. “This shift has also fueled interest in eco-inspired design, with a greater emphasis on bringing elements of the natural world indoors. A sustainability mindset is shaping preferences for hues that feel enduring."

For decades, nature has been associated with ideas of rest and restoration. Today’s wellness culture places even more emphasis on that sentiment as folks step away from their screens and take to the outdoors to feel calmer, more grounded, and physically in touch with their communities. With that in mind, Celery feels like a natural choice (pun intended), as the herbal hue brings a lived-in sense of calm to interiors.

“What draws me to Celery is that it's an organic, natural green with real warmth to it. Even though it's a relatively light color, the soft yellow undertones keep it from feeling too cool or clinical, “ says Kathy Kuo, founder of the eponymous design firm, Kathy Kuo Studios, and 2025 Whole Home designer. “Celery is a bit of a chameleon: inviting and easygoing, but with that little unexpected something that can take a room from ‘nice’ to ‘wait, what IS this color?’ It feels fresh without trying too hard, and I think that's exactly why people are going to fall for it in 2027."
