When most people think of Shirley Temple, they probably envision a curly-haired kid who famously had animal crackers in her soup. After her stint as one of the most famous child stars in Hollywood, Temple got married and even became the United States ambassador to countries like Ghana and Czechoslovakia. Through it all, she also had an excellent eye for great design.

Don’t believe us? Just take a gander at this ranch in Monterey, California, which has just hit the market for $2.45 million. Built back in 1940—the year Temple starred in Young People and the Blue Bird—the 2,180-square-foot residence was once owned by the actress’s father-in-law. In fact, this home is where Temple married her longtime love, Charles Alden Black, in 1950.

Now listed by David O'Neil of Sotheby's International Realty’s Carmel brokerage, the property brings that old Hollywood charm to the 21st-century. Nestled under a canopy of soaring oak trees, the home is full of old-world touches, like a wood-burning fireplace, original hardwood floors, and coffered ceilings. Translation: It’s like something straight out of a film set. Read on for an intimate look at Temple’s matrimonial love nest.
