The legendary designer is perhaps best known for his use of warm neutral colors, so naturally, fans were excited when he casually dropped his favorite neutral paint recently. In fact, he went so far as to share his preferred brand, which makes it much easier for us to order gallons for our own homes. Luckily, it's a gorgeous, fresh hue with just a hint of pink to warm up any room.
Berkus took to Instagram to answer questions about paint colors. "From soft neutrals to bold statement hues, here’s my take, plus practical ideas you can use to transform your own space today," he wrote on social media. The first question asked? "What is your favorite neutral paint color?" The answer? Benjamin Moore Alabaster, which the brand describes on its site as "a fresh, youthful white with a flattering touch of pink."
Berkus went on to share a photo of when he used this perfect shade in a living room, and of course he nailed the look. It's not too glaring, but also feels crisp and clean. No notes!
Shades of pink do appear to be having a bit of a moment in the design, especially with Berkus. In April, he boldly declared pink to be the "new neutral", citing its ability to add "warmth and charm," particularly when choosing soft pink tones. And Berkus's go-to pink-leaning white paint is already an instant hit with fans. "Benjamin Moore Alabaster is our first choice in every house!" wrote one user, while another simply added, "Thank you for this!"
Berkus shared even more painting tips, like coating a ceiling in either a "flat white that's different from the walls or a bold color that makes a statement." He also shared that he uses Benjamin Moore's Alabaster in his own home, along with Benjamin Moore's 941, "another chalky off-white." This color is called Seaspray and has hints of beige, yellow, and green for a totally different kind of neutral.
Now, with the perfect white paint officially solved, we can all join Nate Berkus in his soft neutral era.
