So, in the interest of saving your sanity, we curated a substantial list of what we consider to be the best online furniture stores. You will be able to find literally everything you’d need from these websites.
So, if you’re decorating one room in desperate need of a refresh or you just moved into a new abode and would love to infuse some personality and comfort without spending days, weeks, or even years driving from store to store, we’ve got you covered. One more thing we will say about buying furniture online is perhaps the most underrated element to consider: While you see only a small fraction of what a brand has to offer when you visit a brick-and-mortar, you get to take your pick of the entire inventory online. Chairish
Chairish and 1stDibs may be synonymous to anyone with an affinity for genuine vintage and antique pieces, there is one major difference: price point. 1stDibs is all about the rarest pieces in the world, so you’ll find unique works attached to almost unbelievable price tags. Chairish, however, offers a more approachable mix of items if you’re working with a smaller budget. You’ll find plenty of beautiful older pieces, but you won’t gasp at the price.

Sixpenny
Sixpenny prioritizes comfort above all else, and that is abundantly clear after spending just a few minutes on the site. The sofa cushions are filled with down feathers, the fabrics passed multiple rub tests to ensure softness, and the surfaces are all the ideal smooth as possible. In terms of aesthetic, Sixpenny shines brightest in minimal, simple spaces that aren’t overly ornate in any way, shape, or form. Everything feels quite natural and breezy, so if you live on or near a beach, you’d be remiss to not incorporate something from Sixpenny into your space.

Hetta
Hetta is a sustainably minded furniture brand that has that kind of All-American look that was most popular in the early 1930s and 1940s. There’s a lot of simple, non-precious shapes, reliable materials (think lots of wood), and very fair prices.

TOV
The only often difficult thing about ordering furniture—whether online or in person—is the lead times. The pandemic may be over, but the shipping delays are very much still a thing of the present. Luckily, however, TOV sells on Amazon, so if you see something you like, including this bouclé swivel chair, do yourself a favor and order it. You'll have it on your doorstep in as little as one week.

We have waxed poetic about Perigold more than once, but it's worth the rave. If you aren't familiar with the luxurious online-only brand, allow us to introduce you: It's owned by Wayfair, but you won't find much overlap in terms of product between the two sites. Here's why: Perigold was launched to bring trade-only brands to those without design degrees or firms. In other words, anyone can go online and order designer-approved goods they see on Perigold's site.

Birch Lane
Birch Lane, a very cottagecore-friendly furniture outpost that sells its wares online, is also owned by Wayfair. As far as price point goes, we'd say it's between Wayfair and Perigold because it's not exactly cheap, but it's also not the most luxurious option on our list. This armchair, for instance, is $1,149 and includes free white glove delivery. There are plenty of cheaper options, though. Just be sure to check out the sale page.

Quince
In our experience, whenever we tell people that Quince, an online-only brand famous for its affordable cashmere, sells furniture, the common response has been, "Wait, what?" While some Quince fans know that the brand does sell bedding (read our full review of Quince bedding), few realize it also sells full-blown furniture. You may not be able to outfit your whole home in Quince furniture, but you can definitely grab one or two things, including a beautiful bed frame.

GreenRow may not be as big a name as some others on this list, but give it some time because it's worth knowing. The online-only retailer is all about sustainable design, manufacturing, and shipping, which is why everything is made in the U.S.A. As far as aesthetics go, it's a bit kitschy, but we mean that in the best way. Think lots of bright colors, fun patterns, and ornately carved wood.

"Article makes Scandinavian-inspired furniture that will blend in nicely with most decor styles. The pieces are affordable, yet stylish and high-quality, so you're getting a lot of value," Senior Commerce Editor Heath Owens says. "My Article coffee table has held up for years and looks like it would cost double the actual price." If you're wondering what Scandinavian design is, allow us to explain: It was a design influence that emerged during the now-iconic midcentury modern era—though, as its name implies, it came specifically out of Scandinavia. As its name implies, AllModern's furniture collection boasts an undeniable midcentury feel. That said, because it's designed in today's era, it's built to last using durable materials. Plenty of the pieces are more contemporary iterations of pieces you'd recognize from the Bauhaus movement. Frontgate is one of our favorite places to shop, and not just because we collaborated with the designers on a charming capsule collection. Frontgate is most famous for its collection of durable outdoor furniture, but the indoor-only pieces, such as the Old World-inspired Angelina accent stool, are just as good.

Saatva is more famous for its luxurious mattresses than it is for furniture, so consider this our call to shop the latter category. You can find virtually anything at Wayfair, from bed frames to composters, and for can't-beat prices either. "I love Wayfair because they have so much stuff, so if I wanted to, I could decorate my entire apartment—from the bed frame to the dishes—with Wayfair. I also love it because there's such a massive range of quality and price," Associate Shopping Editor Jessica Cherner says. "What makes this company so amazing, though, is the customer service. Nothing triggers my anger like talking to someone in customer service who is just reading from a script and not trying to help, and Wayfair is the opposite of that. I have never waited on hold for more than three minutes, and whoever I end up talking to always genuinely seems to want to help."

West Elm
West Elm making this list shouldn't surprise you, but just in case you've never been to one of the brand's stores, you should check out its website. With prices on the higher end of affordable and a selection that goes well beyond furniture (though it does furniture so well), you'll want to check out the site. "I, like many others, redecorated my apartment during the pandemic. My first buy was a pale pink pedestal dining table. Almost four years later, I have no regrets about my semi-impulse purchase," Cherner says.

Serena & Lily
Lovers of preppy-coastal style know Serena & Lily for its classically chic furniture and decor—the Riviera stools are the perfect example. If they look familiar, you may have seen something similar arranged around an al fresco bistro table in the south of France. In fact, these specific rattan chairs were crafted in a time-honored technique employed by many French furniture designers: They're bent and shaped by hand until the iconic shape appears. If you're not already obsessed with Anthropologie's home section, it needs to be on your radar. Okay, so its prices aren't exactly affordable (though some pieces might surprise you!), but if Anthropologie is in your price range, you'll find tons of stunning, unique pieces, including this bohemian-inspired cane bed with a wrapped headboard. While we're on the subject of beds, you may as well snag your bedding from Anthropologie too. "I bought a beautiful duvet set from here a few years ago and it's still on my bed. It came with a duvet cover and two European-size shams. They're both so elegant. I always get compliments on my bed when people come over," Cherner says.

Nordstrom
Nordstrom may not have a massive inventory of furniture, but it does have plenty of essentials that no home would be complete without. Case in point: the bedding. Nordstrom is like the holy grail of bedding because it carries pretty much every brand, including Boll & Branch, whose bedding bundle is pictured here. Cherner says, "I have never bought furniture from Nordstrom, but I do have the Boll & Branch sheets and they are incredible. They are definitely some of the softest sheets I've slept on in a long time. That said, they still boast that coveted crisp feeling everyone wants."
