Their Field Dining Table was one of the first pieces that caught my eye, and over the years I’ve only grown to appreciate the brand’s modern, well-crafted pieces even more. I’ve done sit tests on all their couches and chairs (my pick for a comfy, supportive yet lounge-y sofa is the Get Together), but one thing I had yet to test was the brand’s bed frames. That all changed last month when Sundays offered to send me the Form Bed With Storage to review.
I’m a native New Yorker, and growing up in Brooklyn, I always had a bed with pull-out drawers—they’re space-saving and double as a closet when you lack one!—so I was adamant about getting one for a small bedroom. I was looking for this style in a dark wood color, and the Sundays one checked all the boxes on paper. Since I love the brand, I trusted its bed would be high quality, and after sleeping on it, I can confirm it’s awesome.

Delivery and Assembly
Once I placed my order, the bed shipped in a couple of weeks. Communication was very prompt from start to finish, as I always received multiple email reminders that my bed frame was shipping and to confirm my delivery times. The delivery people gave me a call 10 minutes before they arrived, and two people disassembled the boxes on the sidewalk before bringing the bed pieces upstairs, which was nice so Styrofoam and cardboard weren't getting everywhere.

I love that Sundays furniture includes white glove delivery, so you can do other tasks while your furniture is being assembled.
After they brought all the pieces in, one of the guys came in to start building. He put on shoe covers, which was a really nice touch. The other person stayed outside to deal with the cardboard and garbage to be carried away, then came inside to help finish building the frame. All in all, they finished in around 45 minutes. The whole process was seamless.
Sundays Form Storage Bed Quality and Features
One of the first things I noticed about this bed is how extremely sturdy it is. The wood frame does not creak, budge, or wobble. When I lean back on the pillows against the headboard, I feel supported. This is the kind of bed that will last you well over a decade!
The four drawers glide out smoothly and feel a bit heavy too, adding to the “luxury feel” of the bed. They close without any noise, even when I give them a strong push inward. I haven’t filled up the drawers yet, but once fall arrives, this is the perfect easy-to-reach spot for storing layering turtlenecks, cashmere cardigans, and chunky sweaters. You can easily fit five to eight rolled-up winter sweaters here.
When the drawers are closed, the lines look clean and you kind of can’t tell these are actually drawers.
The drawers can hold any essential from extra bedding to seasonal clothes to books if you’re a voracious reader short on storage space.
Sundays furniture can sometimes feel too large for small New York City apartments, but surprisingly the queen-size bed with the pull-out drawers fits perfectly into a 10-by-12-foot bedroom. One thing to note is that while the bed is made of wood, it’s not all solid wood, if this distinction is important to you.
The headboard and footboard are made from a combination of MDF, solid acacia wood, and walnut-stained oak veneer. The drawer front and bottom material is composed of MDF and walnut-stained oak veneer, while the drawer slide material is made from hardwood plywood. The bed’s side rail material is composed of solid oak and acacia wood, while the bed’s slats are crafted from solid pine wood. The entire bed has a protective matte lacquer finish.
I have a natural affinity for darker wood stains, so the dark walnut contrasts nicely with the light wood floors and blue paint in the room—it actually warms up the space, too. If you’re buying a bed for a small room, it’s important to consider how the headboard is designed because some can jut out or have a thicker frame in the back, which won’t sit flush against your wall, taking up precious floor space. Sundays Form Storage bed’s headboard leaves virtually no space in between the wall and bed!
Cleaning and Care
Unlike fully upholstered bed frames where microscopic particles and dust can get embedded into the fabric no matter how much you vacuum it, wood is so much easier to maintain. The Sundays headboard doesn’t show dust easily, which is great, but when it needs a cleaning, a light dusting with a feather duster or a quick wipe with a damp microfiber cloth does the job. If your bed needs a deeper cleaning, the brand recommends using a damp cloth and pH-neutral detergent, then wiping dry. Overall, this bed is very low maintenance!

Verdict: Is the Sundays Form Storage Bed Worth Buying?
Yes, if you want a midcentury-style modern wood bed that’s thoughtfully designed and will last you for years to come. I’ve been a fan of Sundays since day one, so I admit I am a little biased here, but after sleeping on this bed frame and comparing it to others I have tested, this one is worth buying to me.
The only things I can see holding someone back from making a purchase are if they cannot find the right size—this bed only comes in queen and king—and they don’t agree with the price. The queen frame is $3,100, and there are similar wood options out there for less.
However, I’d argue that when you’re buying Sundays furniture, you’re not just buying furniture—you’re also buying into their aesthetic (West-Coast modern) and their ethos that less is more, hence the brand’s tightly edited product offerings. Plus, white-glove delivery is included with every purchase, so you have the added convenience of someone assembling it and taking out all the trash for you. This lazy gal approves!
