The story goes that the duo searched for months for the perfect perch, only to come up empty-handed each time because neither of them were impressed by the sofas on offer. If you are looking for a basic, classic sofa that is comfortable and simple, Albany Park's Barton is a good find. Just ask Associate Shopping Editor Janae McKenzie, who calls this the "crown jewel" of her New York City apartment. "I was so happy with how deceptively spacious this sofa was," she adds. "With just two main sections, I was surprised to see how two tall men (my father and cousin) sat comfortably on just one cushion despite having the whole sofa to spread out on."
It's also quite comfortable, courtesy of the high-resilience foam. Something to note: This sofa, while cozy, does not offer that sink-in feel you may know if you've ever sat on a cloud-like sofa, so if that's your thing, you may want to keep scrolling. When Senior Commerce Editor Marina Liao moved into a new space, she decided to bet on one of Albany Park's most famous sofas, the Kova. "This piece a medium-firm feel, and not only was it the perfect spot to binge Netflix shows with my husband, but also a comfy spot to take a nap on," she says.
In our opinion, a sofa should be comfortable enough to nap on, so the fact that Liao says this is nap-friendly is worth noting. What's more, it's hardly delicate, so there's no need to be too precious with it. Liao adds, "I have a dog and even though she sheds, the hair did not stick this sofa, which makes it pet-friendly. Granted, Willow's white hairs matched the Dune color of my sofa, but since the covers are machine-washable, you can just lint roll and toss the covers into the washer."
If this sofa looks way bigger than the previous pick, it's an optical illusion; both are exactly 86 inches wide! The sleeker, leaner frame of the Lido makes it look wider, but alas, it's still a cozy two-seater. We will say, though, that we have a soft spot for this kind of look, which seems to prioritize fashion over function because how could a couch this slim actually be comfortable? Rest assured, it is quite cozy.
The cushions, both seat and back, are filled with high-resilience foam, which is ideal for a sofa like this because it doesn't require fluffing. If such a thin cushion was filled with feathers of any kind, it would look flat at all times. One reviewer said, "This is a cute and comfortable sofa, a great value for the money. It perfectly fits our small TV room that we bought it for." The Lido is also made to order, so feel free to customize it however you see fit.
We did not put the Kova sofa on here twice by accident. This was an intentional addition because while technically part of the same collection, it's a totally different sofa than the other Kova on our list. For starters, this one features pillow cushions as opposed to box ones. Secondly, this is a sectional whose ottoman comes with cleverly hidden storage. What makes it midcentury is the sleek shape, leather material, and angled, skinny legs that prop up the whole frame. We will say that this leather, though it looks and feels like the real thing, is vegan. "I love this couch! The couch is easy to assemble and the color is perfect," said one reviewer.
