This year's edition of the Ikea catalogue will come in the form of a special handbook to celebrate its 70th anniversary.
'Life is a series of new starts, sometimes they come when you expect them and just as often, when you don't,' says Ikea. Transitions to what's next in our ever-changing lives – as many of us continue to work from home as a result of the coronavirus pandemic – require new ways of thinking, new perspectives, new habits, new ideas and new solutions.
That is why this year, Ikea's catalogue is created as a handbook, filled with smart tips, hands-on ideas and how to guides to help us create a better home that doesn't have to be complicated, expensive or time consuming.
The handbook has been described as a content of inspiration and knowledge to create a better everyday life at home, and aims to inspire people to live healthier and more sustainably too. There is a focus on small spaces, compact living and small budgets.
'Life at home has never been as important as it is today. We know that to most people living is synonymous with small space living. It's not always a choice or just a temporary thing. More people have even more limited budgets today,' says Caroline Hjertström, Range Communication Manager, Ikea Communications.
'That's why most of the solutions featured in this year's catalogue are accessible for people with small budgets and for small spaces.'
Now 70 years old, the first annual Ikea home furnishing catalogue was published in Sweden in 1950.
