It's here! The season of mists and mellow fruitfulness. Or, for most of us, the time to start cosying up our home and spending fewer evenings out and about.
But just because summer is over, doesn't mean your social life has to be. While I typically spend the autumn months making a conscious effort to look after myself and spend more time indoors, this is a ritual best shared with your closest friends.
As the days grow shorter and evenings turn crisp, autumn lends itself beautifully to hosting intimate dinner parties.
The season’s palette – burnished golds, russet reds and deep woodland greens – can inspire both your menu and your table setting. I'm plotting warming broths and roasted root vegetables served in rustic stoneware bowls, and a jewel-toned salad presented on a chocolate brown pedestal bowl.
Autumnal serve and tableware adds depth and texture to the experience: choosing pieces that echo the richness of the season not only elevates the food itself, but also creates a sense of abundance and warmth that will make your nearest and dearest feel instantly soothed and at home.
