The RHS Chelsea Flower Show has announced the winner of the coveted Sustainable Product of the Year 2025 award. Celebrating the highest standards of sustainability, this award helps to spotlight innovative, planet-friendly designs, advising home gardeners on the products worth investing in.
• The Sustainable Garden Product of the Year is the Garden Scoop by Sneerboer Trading
Sneerboer Trading: Garden Scoop
This brand new, award-winning addition to the company's handcrafted tool range is designed for precision work and is ideal for working in tight spaces like flowerpots, raised beds, and borders with young plants. Its curved shape and precisely calibrated depth let you move just the right amount of soil, compost, or wood chippings without spilling.
The Garden Scoop is produced by skilled craftspeople in the Netherlands. Made from high-quality stainless steel, its blade is robust and rust-resistant. Each handle is unique, with its own grain and character, and crafted from recycled European timber. Its ergonomic design offers reliable grip and prevents fatigue even during extended use. A standard 50-year guarantee means this winning tool is also a lifelong gardening partner.
Dutch family-owned company, Sneerboer, is committed to sustainable production practices. In the last year, it has incorporated induction heating technology to replace its centuries-old coal fires. And, by using greener initiatives such as reusing materials, waste is minimised while quality and functionality are preserved.

• RHS Chelsea also announced the winner of the Sustainable Business of the Year, which has been awarded to POTR
POTR - Sustainable Business of the Year
The POTR pot is a flatpack origami-shaped planter made from recycled plastic and delivered through your letterbox – sent with the smallest carbon footprint possible. It's the brainchild of company founders Andrew Flynn and Eilidh Cunningham, who started their business in 2023 and since then, have been changing our buying habits when it comes to containers for houseplants.
In fact, the company has broken new ground with their design, which slashes emissions during transit up to 100 times thanks to the weight and volume saved. What's more, in the past year alone, POTR has collected, recycled, and converted five metric tonnes of plastic waste from the UK coastline into its flatpack planters. In doing so, they've removed harmful materials from the marine ecosystem and transformed them into long-lasting, self-watering planters. After popping into shape, the wicking cord in the pot lets your plant self-regulate its own water intake.
The judges were highly impressed with the company's sustainable principles and practices.
