Television presenter Anthea Turner may have once shared her cleaning tips on the 2006 reality TV show, The Perfect Housewife, but now the former Blue Peter presenter is back offering advice to her Instagram followers — and they really are quite clever.
From how to efficiently clean a sofa to organising a dishwasher, take a look at her advice below...
In this short clip, Anthea tells her fans how she tried everything to clean her sofa covers — but nothing seemed to do the trick. Her secret? Putting the covers in the washing machine. 'Sometimes it's a little bit like trainers: stick them in the washing machine and they come out like new,' she says. 'I did it and it all came out like new'.

Anthea explains to her followers that she puts everything in the dishwasher. From hairbrushes to bathroom essentials, she says that popping everything in for a quick cycle can help to keep it clean.
'I love a dishwasher. I use mine for doing all sorts of things, including my hairbrushes and things from the bathroom. It freshens everything up and it's just much quicker as well. These brushes have come out like new.'
In this three-minute video, Anthea shares how she gets her bathroom looking spick and span. 'The best way to clean a bathroom is little and often. Don't let it all build up,' she says. 'It's good to keep cleaning products in the bathroom but they're not ornaments and I don't want to see them.'

In this short Instagram video, Anthea shares her ironing tips. For her, it's important to have the right tools of the trade. 'I don't understand why people would iron on one of those really cheap, rickety ironing boards. Invest in a decent, sturdy one,' she advises.
Elsewhere in the clip, she also explains that she finds it pointless ironing items such as children's t-shirts, socks and underwear.

Here, Anthea discusses how to declutter your home when you don't have time. 'Set realistic goals that you can do little and often,' she says. 'It doesn't matter if you start on just one drawer. That will give you the confidence to sort things out.'
Also in the video, Anthea explains that she couldn't live one of those 'pristine lives' where 'all the mugs are facing the right way'.

As well as clever cleaning tips, Anthea shares her advice on caring for cashmere. For years, Anthea was using a plastic comb (and sometimes even a razor) to remove the bobbles on jumpers. In the video, she explains how her electric debobbler has been a game-changer.
