Bournemouth beach, located on the southern coastal county of Dorset, has been ranked the sixth best beach on the continent, closely following Mediterranean destinations in Spain, Italy and Greece, in TripAdvisor's Traveller's Choice Beaches awards for 2019.
The seven-mile stretch of sand, which can be accessed just two hours from London, three from Birmingham and four-and-a-half from Manchester, was also rated the best in the UK.
In the European category, it sought off strong competition to be ranked ahead of beaches in the Canary Islands, Italy and Cyprus.
The winners are based on the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings on TripAdvisor over the past year.
