A group of young entrepreneurs have snapped up the entire penthouse release of an exclusive new development in north London with a combined asking price of £36.6 million.

Galliard Homes says all eight of the luxury penthouses at their Islington Square complex have sold off-plan to entrepreneurs between the age of 20 and 40 who head up legal, tech, media and property businesses.

Islington Square is the £400 million transformation of the Royal Mail’s North London Mail Centre, built in the early 20th century, into a 4.5 acre complex featuring 63 new homes, 108 serviced apartments, a health club, restaurants, shops and a cinema.

Each penthouse will open out on to its own roof garden with private pool. Designer kitchens, oak flooring, large living rooms, three ensuite bedrooms, floor-to-ceiling-windows and 'his and hers' dressing rooms come as standard. There's also a 24-hour concierge and underground car park.

And the entrepreneurs have paid, on average, £2,250 per sq ft to enjoy 'Los Angeles-style living in London'.

David Galman, sales director at Galliard Homes, says many of the young entrepreneurs already live in the highly sought-after Islington area – and are 'trading up' from three-storey townhouses nearby.

London's luxury property market continues to make headlines. Just last week, the UK's most expensive ever home changed hands for £160m.
