Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are moving back to the UK. The couple last lived in Britain in 2019 in Frogmore Cottage – but with reports of the pair moving to a 'non-royal' residence, where will they decide to live now?
Currently, the couple live in a 16-bedroom estate in Montecito, California with their two children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5 after moving there in 2020. Now, however, after six years of life in the US, they're reportedly moving back to the UK.
The family are said to be moving to a non-royal residence outside of London, and their children have been enrolled into British schools, ready to start the term in September. It's a big change for the Sussex family – and an unexpected one at that – but where might they live when they return?
Where might Meghan and Harry live?
While it's not yet been revealed exactly where the couple will live, according to reports, they won't reside in London and they won't be living in a royal residence.
The couple previously lived in Frogmore Cottage, a Grade-II listed house in Windsor. Writing about it in his memoir Spare, Harry wrote of the cottage: 'We loved that place. From the first minute. It felt as if we were destined to live there.'
The couple, however, lived there for less than a year, and now, it seems that they are unlikely to return to Frogmore Cottage. The home, after all, belongs to the Crown estate and is technically a royal property.
As for new potential bases, the couple could choose to move near Gloucestershire in the Cotswolds. This is where Highgrove House, the family residence of King Charles and Queen Camilla is situated, so if they couple want to be closer to Harry's father, this could be a good option.
Alternatively, the couple might opt to live in Northamptonshire, which is the Spencer family's ancestral home. Here, Althorp House and Estate are located, where Harry's mother Princess Diana grew up.
Only time will tell where the couple will end up living. Will it be near the King, or closer to Diana's ancestral home? But their eventual choice of home remains under wraps for now.
