Following the Coronation of King Charles III, we've taken a look back at the King at home over the years, from the Royal Lodge to Sandringham House to Highgrove House. These candid photographs capture the monarch behind the doors of these famous royal residences, from growing up as a child to taking on official royal duties as the Prince of Wales.
Tucked away from public view in the south side of the gardens of Windsor's Royal Lodge stands the Welsh House — a small thatched house that was gifted to Princess Elizabeth on her sixth birthday. Here, a young King Charles beams from the window.

After their wedding, Diana and Charles (pictured here with Prince William) settled into apartments 8 and 9 at Kensington Palace — a Jacobean mansion purchased in 1689 by William III. Patterned blue wallpaper, ornate frames and a soft pink sofa forms part of the decor.

The royal gardens are just as breathtaking as the interiors. Here, a young Prince Charles is pictured alongside Princess Diana and Prince William during a photocall at Kensington Palace. Features of the gardens include a wildflower meadow bursting with poppies and daisies, formal flower gardens, and the Sunken Garden – a place which now celebrates the life of Princess Diana. The wooden bench that Charles is sitting on was a wedding present from the Cornwall Crafts Association.
When Princess Diana and Prince Charles welcomed William into the world in 1982 and Harry in 1984, they ensured Kensington Palace had plenty of space for the young boys to explore. Here, we see them playing around by the grand piano in the family's living room.

Charles and Camilla celebrated their wedding day on 9th April 2005 with an official photograph in the White Drawing Room at Windsor Castle after their ceremony. The spectacular room features gold wall panelling, overmantel mirrors, a pair of candelabra, two Franz Winterhalter portraits of Prince Albert and Queen Victoria, and a portrait of the young Prince Albert Edward, later King Edward VII.
Llwynywermod is an estate owned by the Duchy of Cornwall, just outside the Brecon Beacons. The Welsh home was purchased by King Charles over 15 years ago. According to reports, Charles and Camilla would often stay in the farmhouse around St David's Day (the Feast of the patron saint of Wales) when he would carry out official duties throughout the country.
On a summer's day in July 2019, Prince Charles and Camilla are photographed arriving for an evening of music and drama at their Welsh home, Llwynywermod Estate, featuring performances by Wynne Evans, as well as students and musicians of The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
Clarence House is the residence of King Charles III and Queen Camilla (the former Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall). One of the last remaining aristocratic townhouses in London, it has five bedrooms, a drawing room with a central fireplace, and a morning room filled with personal photographs, artworks and antiques.
