On Sunday 17th May, vintage lovers can snap up beautiful second-hand homeware accessories and furniture pieces from local businesses around the UK, thanks to a new online vintage fair.
The Virtual Vintage Fair was launched by vintage experts, Sam Hansard and Tamara Broido, as a way to draw shoppers together during lockdown and give back to a charity in need during the coronavirus outbreak.
It will run for one day only, with all proceeds going to The Trussell Trust — a charity supporting a nationwide network of food banks and providing emergency food to people in crisis.
How does the sale work?
The sale will start at 8:30am on Sunday 17th May on the Virtual Vintage Fair Instagram page and finish at 6pm. Dealers will be posting pictures of items for you to bid on, so simply comment on your favourites with the amount you want to pay.
New items will be posted every 15 minutes throughout the day. Winners will be contacted by the dealer once the sale has ended.
Sam and Tamara, who run an antique sourcing business, Your Antique Sourcing Studio, came up with the concept two days before lockdown restrictions were implemented in the UK. Now, they have over 12,000 Instagram followers and 30 dealers selling to buyers worldwide.
'We set up the Virtual Vintage Fair to support some of the small vintage dealers we had met along the way during the pandemic,' Sam and Tamara tell House Beautiful UK. 'It's been an incredibly successful and enriching "vintage community" experience so we felt we should do something to help others less fortunate than we are by harnessing the positive energy we have built up.
'We are therefore holding an auction on Sunday 17th May to raise money for The Trussell Trust which supports food banks for those who need them around the UK.'

Some independent retailers include Susie Blues Rooms, stocking a range of one-of-a-kind accessories; Ivy Joan's soy-wax candles and French goods; and Cachepot, a quaint store selling everything from dried flowers to soap.
Sam and Tamara have also set up a Just Giving fundraiser page to raise additional funds for The Trussell Trust if shoppers wish to donate extra.
