The small TV

It was all about big screens this year as TVs and phone screens were supersized. In fact, John Lewis said screens have nearly doubled in size, from 36 inch in 2010 to the most popular +70 inch screen today, the latter of which is up 97 per cent.

The alarm clock

As people opt to use their smartphones, sales of alarm clocks were down 16 per cent. This year, John Lewis have reduced their range by 30 per cent, from 102 to 70 different types of alarm clocks.

The desktop computer

As consumers shop on the go using their smartphone, John Lewis saw a decrease in sales of desktop computers down by 15 per cent.

The DVD player

The door knocker
