The Windsor bed frame by Dusk is a great choice if you want something subtle but stunning, and while it's only available in one fabric choice – linen look – it's still a great choice. We love the black colour, which features gorgeously bold natural piping on its headboard, perfect for a modern or minimalist bedroom. Sitting underneath its wooden sprung slatted base is heaps of storage space.
Available in three colourways, its price is competitive at less than £350 – and that's before it goes on sale. It is plain, but if you look closely, it's finished with delicate piping around the edge of its headboard.

Available in your choice of natural or grey, the Middleton comes wrapped in a gorgeous linen-look fabric that's super soft to the touch. Opt for this style of frame if you're going traditional in your bedroom, or if you want to avoid anything that's too plain – this will be sure to attract eyes in an instant. Not only that, but hidden underneath the slats is a huge amount of storage space that'll be sure to come in handy.

Material
The Ascot bed is made from a lovely linen look material that gives it a real premium feel. It's available in a range of colourways, including natural, off-white, navy and taupe, which complement virtually any interior scheme. I opted for the natural colourway which, although works well in my minimalist bedroom, is a little more on the grey side than beige – so keep that in mind if you're looking for a bed frame in a warmer shade.
Shape and design
One of my favourite features of the Ascot is, undoubtedly, the headboard. With its clean lines and soft, curved silhouette, it has a gentle yet contemporary feel without stepping too far into the ultra-modern category. Personally, I love the subtlety of the Ascot.
Storage
Of course, the under-bed storage is a real game-changer here. If, like me, you've got a small bedroom, you won't regret switching to a space-saving ottoman bed. I particularly like the hidden fabric handle at the end of the Ascot's frame, which can be easily lifted to reveal plenty of room for spare bedding, clothes or towels. It's big enough that I've even popped two suitcases in it.
Assembly
The question on everyone's lips: is Dusk's Ascot bed easy to assemble? Well, Dusk claims it should take around two hours and two people to assemble their ottoman beds, although I found it took closer to three hours with two people. It wasn't the easiest bed I've ever assembled because of the addition of the lift mechanism but, having said that, the instructions were clear – just rather long.
Comfort and durability
So, what about comfort? Made with a wooden sprung slatted base, the Ascot is definitely one of the sturdiest beds I've owned. The iron brackets and lift mechanism make this bed feel more robust than the average bed – offering complete support and comfort while you sleep – while the lack of feet makes it feel sturdy on the ground.
Price
Perhaps the biggest sell of the Ascot bed frame, though, is the price. At £259 for a double, £289 for a king and £299 for a super king, you'll find it tricky to get better value – and quality – elsewhere.
