Now that the new year is well underway there's no better time to redecorate your home, and with some decorating hacks, you can add a new lease of life to your interiors without breaking the bank.

This is a very cheap but stylish way of updating your kitchen cabinets. Spray the inside of them with the chalkboard paint, then you will be free to write on them with chalk. Maybe write a list of what's in the cabinets as a useful reminder, or let the kids have fun drawing pictures.
Decorative cushions are now eye-wateringly expensive so why not make your own? You can pick the fabric you like and if sewing fills you with dread, why not just use fabric glue? This way you can create cushions that are perfect for you and exude homemade charm.
A simple DIY art tip is to buy a blank canvas and decorate it with gold or silver thumbtacks. You can make patterns, initials, whatever you fancy. This is an easy and quick way to bring life into a room. If you have an artist's hand, then go ahead and paint your next masterpiece for your living room.
Use a hollowed out book to hide unsightly Wi-Fi routers. You can place ornaments, such as a vase, on top of the book to make a lovely display. This will tidy up the appearance of the room and declutter your space.
Don't throw away broken brooches, stick a magnet onto the back of them to turn them into stylish ways to pin up the kids' artwork. Using unused jewellery as magnets will also add a touch of class to your fridge.
If you're perusing a furniture site and see something you fancy, pop it in your basket but don't check out. If the site has your email address, chances are they'll send you an email with a discount code a few days later. It's a win-win situation.
Don't hire someone to do your painting, get stuck in and do it yourself. Make sure to get testers of the colours you like; this is the best way to see how they will actually look in the room. Many shops give them away for free, and let's not forget, decorating is fun!

And if you get bored while sitting at your desk, a good distraction is getting immersed in old pictures of family and friends.
Cover a sofa, lay a rug over that stained carpet, or use fabric to screen an unpleasant view until you can afford to replace it. No one need know. The right throw or rug can add some oomph to the interiors.

Pick up some cheap photo frames from charity shops, the more mismatched the better, and spray paint them all the same colour. Neon colours are very on trend at the moment. It will look like you've bought them from a luxury retailer when really it cost you pennies.

Got an old fireplace that you can't afford to light any more? Fill up the empty space with decorative logs to give it a homey feel. The wooden look is very hygge.
