- Joanna Gaines and daughters Ella and Emmie turned an English countryside girls’ trip into an antiques-hunting adventure.
- The trio arrived at Europe’s largest antiques fair early in the morning, browsing vintage art, furniture, and decorative treasures.
- The interior design star got candid, documenting her heat exhaustion after five hours of shopping in nearly 100-degree heat.
Joanna Gaines might be indulging in a girls’ trip, but the interior design star is still on the clock. Following a Colorado family getaway, Joanna Gaines and her two daughters, Ella Rose and Emmie Kay, set off for the English countryside. The trip, partially guided by House on Horizon, a Traverse City, Michigan-based antiques firm, gave the Gaines girls a chance to squeeze in some extra quality time before Ella, Gaines’s second-oldest, heads back to campus for the fall semester.
The main event of the trip was hunting for treasures at the Newark International Antiques Fair. While trekking through nearly 100-degree heat, Gaines documented the whole experience and shared it in a Reel on Instagram for her fans.
The Gaineses started bright and early, arriving around 5:45 a.m. to make the most of their visit to the fair—which, FYI, is Europe’s largest antiques fair. They wandered through tents filled with vintage art, tables piled high with decorative treasures, and rows of antique furniture spread across the sprawling grounds.
And Joanna wasn’t the only one shopping. In her reel, she revealed that Ella and Emmie had ventured off on their own to explore, sending a steady stream of photos to the family group chat as they discovered their favorite finds. It’s hardly surprising for longtime fans, who have watched Ella come into her own as a designer and artist since taking on a small renovation project at the family’s Colorado mountain house.
While Gaines didn’t share the girls’ group-chat snaps, she did give fans a peek at what was making its way into her own trolley. A vintage wooden bench, citrus-inspired paintings, and gilded animal figurines all appeared in the video’s final cut—along with footage of Gaines desperately trying to cool down after spending hours under the rising sun.
“I am, what they call, ‘crashing out,” the interior designer vented to the camera after five hours of browsing.
Fans loved seeing Gaines get so candid. The comments quickly filled with praise, envy, and more than a little FOMO. “The time I didn’t go, and you’re there. Enjoy the rest of your time in the UK,” one commenter wrote. Another practically begged for a spot on the next trip: “Next time please take me too!!”
By the end of the fair, Gaines was understandably exhausted—but clearly impressed—as she and her girls loaded up their suitcases with their finds. We wouldn’t be surprised if she made a trip across the pond again next year. From her post, it seems like the gains really did outweigh the odds.
